* a brief comment:
Now that Donald Trump has returned to the presidency as of March this year, one might ask: does he derive his greatest sense of fulfillment, or perhaps even his very purpose in life, from wielding immense power over nations around the world through short-term "deals"?
Although he continues to chant his signature slogan, "MAGA (Make America Great Again)," many experts warn that his current policies and actions are likely to lead to long-term harm for the United States. Is it possible that he dismisses such concerns simply because he won't be around decades from now to face the consequences?
We cannot know for certain what President Trump truly believes. But if he sincerely thinks that his approach will yield lasting benefits for the future of America, it raises serious doubts about his capacity for logical reasoning. Or, if that seems too harsh, perhaps it would be fairer to say that while he may possess the necessary intellectual ability, his emotional impulses often overwhelm his ability to sustain rational thought.
In any case, President Trump today appears largely unconcerned about the harm his America-first policies may cause to America's allies and friendly nations.
Some still praise him, claiming that "Trump is fighting against globalism." But it is precisely those people who should take today's words of Bertrand Russell to heart.
